The Original Clone
Making his first theatrical appearance in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Jango Fett, the ruthless bounty hunter, was played by Temuera Morrison. Until that time Jango Fett was only mentioned in Star War novels.
Originally from Concord Dawn, Fett’s farmer parents were murdered, while on their land, by marauders in 58 BBY. After being rescued by Mandalorian warriors, Fett began his new life as a warrior himself, although he was still a young child. Upon developing into a focused combatant, Fett led soldiers through the Mandalorians Civil War, but was one of the few to actually survive the devastation. Finding himself alone once again, Fett decided to use his knowledge as a fighter to become a bounty hunter, and became one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy.
In tribute to his many years fighting with the Mandalorian, Jango Fett continues to wear their signature armor. His armor also includes a jetpack. An owner of two different models, one was designed specifically for him by Merr-Sonn Munitions. Among many weapons on his person, he is armed with Westar-34 twin Dallorian blasters, a Czerka ZX minature flame projector, and others. When Fett looses his gun in battle, he uses his electromagnetic devices in his gloves to attract his lost weapon to his hand!
Soon after the Battle of Naboo, Fett was approached by a strange man named Tyrannus, and was told that he had been hand picked to serve as a genetic template for clones that would form the majority of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Residing on Kamino, where the clones were being produced, he assisted the Kaminoans in developing the clones’ combatant skills.
His story picks up in Attack of the Clones when he was tasked with assassinating Senator Padmé Amidala. Though he outsourced the job to protect his identity, the poisoned dart used by the bounty hunter he hired was traced back to Kamino. Obi-Wan Kenobi went to Kamino to investigate, and found a bigger surprise: a clone army. He and Jango shared tense moments before trying to kill each other, then Obi-Wan followed Jango to Geonosis. When the Jedi swarmed the arena where a captive Obi-Wan, along with Padmé and Anakin Skywalker, were held, Jango stepped up to protect Count Dooku. Jango engaged in battle with Jedi Mace Windu, losing the fight and his head during the confrontation. Seeing what happened to his “father,” the Jango clone, Boba Fett was left to his grief and a future as a formidable bounty hunter.
