The main series might be off the air, but The Walking Dead universe is still traveling through the zombie apocalypse with multiple spinoff series. During New York Comic Con, AMC gave updates for two of those series starring four of the most popular characters from the flagship show.

Norman Reedus took the stage to present news on his series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. He was joined by Melissa McBride via video call to announce that Daryl’s bestie Carol Peletier is returning. McBride reenters the world of walkers in the Daryl Dixon season finale as she searches for her friend in France.

When the Daryl Dixon show was originally announced, it was going to follow both him and Carol, but relocating to Europe wasn’t possible for McBride at the time. The series has been renamed The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol and will also see David Zabel taking over as showrunner from the exiting Angela Kang. It is currently filming overseas (based on an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA) and will debut sometime in 2024.

The other big update came from The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, bringing back Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira as Michonne. Named after a line that was oft repeated in the original series, The Ones Who Live follows Rick and Michonne as they try to reunite after being apart for years.

They are joined by Pollyanna McIntosh who is back as Jadis. She orginated the character in The Walking Dead seasons 7-9 and on the second season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The new series will also feature Terry O’Quinn, Lesley-Ann Brandt, and Matt Jeffries.

A 30-second teaser trailer debuted at NYCC with a voiceover of Rick talking about his attempts to get away and find Michonne while the two face walkers and dangerous humans on their journey back to each other. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live debuts in February 2024.
