Well, it’s finally here, the first look at the highly anticipated female Thor. During the Original Sin event, Thor Odinson had something mysterious whispered to him by Nick Fury and immediately lost the ability to hold his hammer, Mjolnir. Since then, he has remained on the moon, desperately struggling to lift his legendary weapon.

Meanwhile, Frost Giants led by none other than Malekith the Accursed have begun an invasion of Earth. Thor leaves his hammer behind and enters battle wielding an axe instead. While he struggles, a mysterious woman manages to lift Mjolnir to become the Goddess of Thunder. Her true identity remains a mystery.

This issue may seem a little like a bait and switch to fans who have been eager to learn who will take on Thor’s title and powers. However, the story in this issue is absolutely necessary to establishing what happened to Thor Odinson and what kind of menace our new heroine will face, making it a must read for Marvel fans.
