John Law, one of Will Eisner’s tough and smart detectives, is returning to print for The Collected Will Eisner’s John Law from Titan’s Hard Case Crime imprint.

“Wherever men live, be they nomads or city dwellers, there they must have law and a man to enforce it,” per the description. “Meet Detective John Law of Crossroads City. Strong, decent, hardworking and hard-nosed. He’s a man who believes in the law and order. He’s the last of a dying breed.”

Eisner produced the first issue of John Law Detective in 1948, and he planned to include it in a line of self-published comics, that did not take off. Two years later, some of the John Law art was reworked into Eisner’s famous creation, The Spirit.

This new collection features original stories by Will Eisner and Gary Chaloner’s reboot from 2004, and a previously unpublished John Law story. It also comes with a foreword by longtime Eisner publisher Denis Kitchen.

The 152-page hardcover book will be in stores soon on March 4, 2025.
